Learning about 912s
Ok guys- a friend of mine just informed me where a mid 60's 912 is sitting. I looked at it, engine is on the ground, car is in a shed, body looks straight, no rust, interior pretty good. What's a guesstimate as to what I should offer, assuming I decide to. I don't know the condition of the engine and the car has been sitting for some years.

Fun find!
Got to www.912Registry.org for valuation charts, high/low prices, etc. The engine seals will (probably need to be replaced but if you find the piston & cylinders/heads/crank in good shape is worth your time, but it may be a gamble. To give you an example, my latest find is a 68 912 sunroof with 68K (168,000 assumed, no engine, 4 speed tranny/cv's, chrome wheels, fenders, etc. for $500. To me it's a builder. My 67 912 nice (but bad pans) parts car w/ engine (turns fine) was $1500. Hope that helps - Scott |
