key question

hope everyone doesn't mind a question from a 911 owner but i figure this is also a good place to ask considering the model years.

so i figure it's time to address my ignition/door key situation.
non-original ignition key has the following info stamped on it:

-taylor USA, P79Bm measures 2 1/8" in height, works fine.

-non-original door key: ilco DM4, 1 7/8" in height, opens driver door, does not open pass door but can be inserted without turning.

-door handles are correct for the year.

i have read over the pelican article and suspect i will need to run thru the tumblers for the pass side.
i question why i have two different style keys as i thought i should have ONE key that fits all, correct? if so which key is incorrect? where do i get replacement keys? i've only seen blanks avail for '69+. even if i re-do the tumbler pins i would still have 2 different keys. what's the deal?
tia,

I had responded to a question similar to this a while back and had made note of the Pelican article. Since then I have contacted a local locksmith, and for $25 he will rekey both doors to match my ignition and provide me with a spare key. The price was based on me dropping off the door locks and my current ignition key.
