Solex Carburator Flooding

Recently my 1969 912 with original Solex carbs floods after I shut it down on a hot day. It is so bad that I can see gas dripping down from the carburators between the two barrels. When I pull the aircleaners I can see gas sitting on top of the throttle plates but can't tell where its coming from. The only thing I can think of is that the plastic floats have absorbed fuel and don't float anymore when it gets hot. Does anyone else have any ideas? If this is true, where can I get new carburator floats? The catalof places (Performance Products, PBTweeks)don't carry them.

Must be the floats. Is it on both carbs? Do you have an electric fuel pump? If not, I would take apart one of the carbs, take out the float and see if it floats. Easy job with webers, solexes, I dunno. If it doesn't float I think Stoddard carries them, but I don't have the book in front of me as I am 2200 miles away from home. I would also call CB Performace, as I think they might have some Solex stuff, but call, don't look on the website. Good Luck!

Also check the float needle valves. They could be sticking. Duke 69-912

If its the needle valve, Perfomance Products carries a rebuid kit with the needle valves.
