Hi. Does anybody know whether there is a manifold which would allow the use of a Holley or Edelbrock carburetor on a 912 engine? A friend of mine has a '68 with dual Solex's which are about worn out (he says), and he's thinking of a conversion to some sort of single carb set-up. I suggested he call Eurometrix, but for some reason he's fixated on using a single 4bbl.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. |

Growing up in a VW household, I experimented with a lot of combo...
I even had a Corvair motor on a dune buggy. We tried a small 500 cfm Holley....ran terrible. Flat fours and sixes seem to run better with two sets of carbs with straight runs to the heads....my type I bugs used a Holley "Bug Spray" two barrel center mounted with dual port heads...I also used a center mount Weber DCNF and DCN. Got about 30 mpg on the 1600 cc motor with the DCN. The motor really woke up with the dual webers. BTW, if needed I have some Solex P-40 solid shafts with manifolds, cleaners and rebuild kits sitting in a box... |
