Question Rear suspension sag!!! HELP!!! 912E

I just bought a 1976 912E and had it delivered to my house. The previous owner described it well in all aspects, but failed to tell me theat the left side rear fender opening was even with the top of the tire, and the Right side was sagging 1 1/2 inches lower! The rear tires are new michelin 225/55 16 and I cannot detect any abnormal wear. Any Ideas Where to start? I have an 911 Hayes manual, but it is vague on this subject. I thought the torsion bar may be broken, but the car seems to still have suspension travel and drives OK. What is the easiest way to check for possible problems?

I'd start by putting the car on level ground, check tire pressures all around & take some comparative measurements, i.e., ground to various points on the chassis, left and right. I'd pull the "low" side torsion bar - might be that someone attempted a lowering job by "winning it", or maybe there's damage, etc. Also, check all of the bushings on the suspect side. Are the springplates stock? (non-adjustable?)

I agree. Either you have some bad shocks, a screwed up lowering job or the car was hit and not properly repaired. Does the title indicate a "salvage vehicle?" Duke, 69 912.

I scanned a page out of an aftermarket shop manual on the rear suspension you can see it on our web page. The file os fairly large .

I pulled the torsion arms off last night and the bushings must have been origional. They were also worn out. I got some tech info off of this pelican and ordered the parts. Thanks for your help.
