I had mine rebuilt by the Maestro
My '67 912 Targa detonated one night after a easy 5th to 4th downshift onto an exit ramp. The crank, weak because some fool previously fitted a turbo to it and stressed the engine, shattered and exited the case. Ugly, very ugly.
After searching, reading, and talking to others that had rebuilds done, I picked The Maestro, aka Harry Pellow (www.hcpresearch.com). No, it wasn't cheap, but I know I have a solid, dependable engine that will happily carry me many miles. The Maestro was a pleasure to work with, and he really knows and loves his work. I can't recommend him highly enough. If you plan to keep your car, and drive it daily, contact the Maestro. |
Hmmmm did you happen to take any pics of the engine with the Turbo on it? I would love to see that.

I agree, the Maestro is a gentleman and probably the greatest font of 356/912 knowledge alive. He took two basket case engines of mine and I came away with the sweetest running, sweetest sounding air cooled engine I have ever seen. Yes, it comes with a price, but as they say you get what you pay for. Some say he is overpriced but anyone in business for themselves knows that you have to make a profit, knowledge comes with a price, so I now have the confidence that it was done right. My humble thanks Maestro! PS... The engine is a work of art!
