Smile Engine cutout

I have a 68 912 that seems to be a challenge.
I have replaced the spark plugs, cables and points, but the car still cuts out going down the road. What are the other suggestions for what might be doing this. Valves? carbs?

Hi,
Does it cut out when accelerating or maintaining speed?
Does it bog and then catch, or cut out and die.
Does it do it on a cold engine or hot or both?
Check all of your wiring including battery cables for a loose wire. A common place for a wire to come loose is at the coil.
It sounds like an electrical or fuel problem. Send us some more details on when it cuts out and hopefully we can help.

The car runs very poorly when it is cold. It pops ans sputters until it gets warmed up. I sometimes beleive that it is not firing on all cylinders when it is cold. The car typically will cutout whether you are accelerating or at a constant speed. The cutout is substantial. It is like the car quits running for a split second. The car has to be pumped almost continously when starting for the first minute or two to keep it running. I had an electrical problem that
would cause the car to completely quit and leave me stranded. I had to rsplice some loose wires at the fuse bank. I think I have them to where they are not the problem. But there maybe another problem. Possibly bad ground.
