Looking for comments on the following question ... I remember reading a suggestion to add 'Marvel Mystery Oil' to the gas tank every now and then. There were no specifics as to how much or how often, but that the oil is good for running through old engines during combustion. I have a stock 912E and am looking for comments as to whether anyone else has heard this? Thanks in advance ...

I know MMO from auxiliary marine motors (usually Palmers and Atomic 4's)where "old timer" mechanics use 1qt MMO for every 3 of non-det. oil. I haven't had experience running it through the fuel system. Assuming you still have the L-Jetronic FI, I'd be hesitant, as it might harm the fuel pump/injector/press.reg internals, etc. I'd play it safe, since this is a relatively modern motor.

I think Techroline, Se-Foam, or PB_blaster fuel treatments would be better for an FI car.
IMHO 93 Lightning EEC-IV 74 1.8L 914 Carb 75 2.0L 914 D_jet 76 912E D-Jet (yes "D-Jet", what can I say, I had the parts) |
