Weird one

Saturday I was out and about driving my 69-912 with no problems. When I got home I turned off the ignition then decided to garage it for the day and turned the key and nothing, dash lights came on but no click or anything from the starter.

About 1 hour later I was going to push it into the garage and tried th key 1 more time and it started right up as always. Any ideas?? My ignition switch is a bit "stiff" but has never given me a problem before.

I ahs started every time since then with no problems but I am a bit concerned about this one and do not want to get stuck somewhere far from home.

Hello,
It could be a simple as dirty battery terminals.....Porsche has wierd grounding problems, it's probably an ignition switch though.... I hope it's easy, good luck,
Chas

It could be a hot start problem. It happens to mine sometimes when the engine is hot or it's a very warm day. After it cools down it starts right up. Only did it a couple of times but have purchased a starter relay from performance products to cure that. I think it was around 20 bucks and takes 20 min to put on. Good luck, Mark

I have a '76 912E and a similar thing happened to my wife & I last Summer after coming out of church. I reached up behind the dash to inspect the ignition wiring and found a loose connector. You may have something similar which is just making intermittent contact. It's certainly easy enough to check. .... Good Luck

There is also a nonnector in the engine compartment that heat will cause a breakdown. Its on the left side pull it apart and clean it good.
