Clutch problem

Just had my 901 transmission rebuilt, and installed a new clutch disc, throwout bearing, pressure plate, and resurfaced the flywheel. I put it all back together, and I couldn't get the car to drive without any clutch slip, regardless of how I had set the clutch slack. I had an oil gasket get pinched and squirt oil all over the place, and thought that the oil had gotten into the bellhousing. I took it all apart and the thing was dry. Everything was dry; the clutch disc still wasn't even completely scuffed.

Any advice? I don't know what else I could check.

Resurfacing the pressure plate is OK if you take the following into account:
- the surface must NOT be shiny. A slight roughness is neccesary to avoid slippage.
- anything taken of the surface MUST also be taken off the mounting flange where the pressure plate is screwed against. Otherwise your pressure plate will not seat fully.
- because the clutch is now moved a bit closer to the engine, you must add a spacer under the stud that holds the throwout bearing finger to compensate.

Patrick

Pressure plate was dished - was only clamping the outer edge of the clutch plate, thus causing my slip. The vendor refused to replace it.

Anyone ever had this problem?

Hello,
You should give the "vender" a whole bunch of free advertising for refusing to replace a defected part!
Good luck,
Chas
