What are the proper storage proceedures for winter storage inside a heated warehouse.
Should I leave the battery in or out of the car? I have a Schumacher Mighty Mite trikel charger. The new battery is a sealed Delco. Should I fogg the engine as I shut it down? Where can I get Engine Fogger, the local auto shop did not have it? Oil & filter just changed. Car will be covered with a Porsche Cover. Two containers of moisture absorbant inside the car. Fill tank of gas with a can of Heet to grab any moisture. What else?? Thanks for your help. Ron |

I would definately take out the battery, but other than that, you shouldn't have to do much. When in Minnesota we took out the battery, filled the gas tank, put those moisture thingies in the interior, covered it and waited for the winter to be over. Some people jack up the cars for fear of flat spotting. I guess it depends on how long you are going to park the car and if your worried.
Oh, for the engine, change the oil and I wouldn't fog it. ------------------ Joshua Harrison Porsche owner at heart |

I had to put my baby to rest for my 14 month stint at the South Pole.
My garage isn't heated, but winters in NC never really get colder than 15F. I pulled the battery, put bags over the carbs (potential mouse haven), put "Stabil" in the gas, added a quart of "Marvel Mystery Oil" in, and then removed the Fuchs and stacked them with cardboard in between. I also taped a "Hey Stupid" note on the steering wheel to remind me what to do to resurrect the sleeping beauty. Rear window zipped up, Targa top on, windows down, I pulled over the cloth cover, said "bye bye" and locked the door behind me when I left. Since September 2000, another '66 912 has joined the fold. Now the "Air Cooled Garage" has two classic 912's inside - a '67 Targa SRW and a sweet midnight black '66 Coupe. And no, I ain't telling where my garage can be found ![]() |
