I got my 912 running!

A couple weeks ago I picked up a light ivory '67 912 for $2000 and drove it home on two cylinders and the e-brake. Since then I found the stuck needle valve in the carb, switched the spark plug wires to the right order, set timing, valves...

I also replaced the brake lines and bled the brakes so they don't stick any more.

I did have one problem with a valve cover gasket which I ordered that didn't fit. Does anyone know a good source?

I drove to work this morning and while I won't be going on any really long trips soon, I think I'm making pretty good progress!

Blake

I'll try and get pictures soon.

Congratulations!!!! Sounds like you picked up a nice 912. For the valve cover gaskets, try www.************************ Get the ones with a metal core. They fit perfectly, don't bend out of shape, don't leak, and are reusable. All for like 10 bucks! I made me feal stupid for not switching sooner.

Congrats! Always a great feeling to FINALLY get a 912 running. I just replaced a freshly rebuilt transmission, and it is at the local shop getting a couple of minor things that I don't have time to do finished so I can drive it to Las Vegas this weekend.

As far as the gaskets, if Pelican or Performance Products doesn't have them (I'd be surprised if they didn't), the Fel-Pro gaskets from 356 enterprises are great. 356enterprises.com

Congrats Blake! I remember having to do some of the same things with the '67 911 that you described, and I remember what a thrill it was......And to hear it roar back to life was amazing. Keep up the fast progress!
