idle

On my 912e the car idles higher when the lights are off. Does anyone know the reason why? And how to correct the problem? Thanks for your help.

How much of a difference is there? If it's slight, it's normal. Does it do the same with the heater blower on? Do you have H-1/H-4 high wattage bulbs?

When I have the lights on the car idles at 1000. With the lights off the idle is 1 tick higher. I don't have any special headlamps and the heater blower does not work. Thanks your.

Jay:
I'd live with it - mine did it too (maybe 100 +/- rpm). As long as your headlights stay bright at idle & your battery holds a charge, etc., I think it's normal. As a side note, I have a city driver Ford Aspire (micro car) which almost does a backflip when I turn on the heater blower on the freeway. If it really bugs you, you could make sure that your smog pump turns with little effort and check/clean all of your alt/battery cables and grounds.
