What type of advances? You could always add the under the pan condensor and switch to a rotary vane style compressor. I still have the original York.

Stan Wilder TX , has done some major improvements on his 912E.

I am going to do some small things , taking old YORK out.Replacing it with a SANDEN.Should be a major improvement.

What advances do you mean?

Still not sure if I understand your question, however, I am killing 2 birds with one stone. I have attached 2 - 5.5" pull type fans to the grill condensor. This adds in sucking in air to the engine compartment. Additionally, this air is passed thru the condensor with aids in dissapating the heat off the coils...

Hope this helps...

This "add on" fan thing sounds too easy.....

Does it really make a noticeable difference ? Naturally I do understand when car is stationary and idling there is not much airflow through the grill.

If that did help , I might do the same thing.....

Always looking for improvements !!! ( that are easy and cheap to do )

Last summer during the triple digit days, with my ac on, my temp guage did not rise above approx 75%. The fans are wired into the York compressor circuit, so when I flip the ac on both the interior and engine are cooler...

Regards,
Bob

OK , I have thought about the same thing.

Just did not do anything , because I thought that this "fix" is too simple to work !!!! So maybe I should , and I will.

What fans are you using ?

I would imagine that with the new Sanden compressor and maybe the additional fans , AC should work better than ever.

I bought the fans from Mocal/BAT Inc in Florida.
http://www.batinc.net/

Kinda pricey, you should be able to find some alternate cost effective units...

Well, since I installed the rear pop-outs I use the ac less...
I recall reading an article regarding the HP drain from the York. The calc's were done using a dyno...approc 7-10 HP loss IIRC...

Good Luck

Bob

No raintray, the car came with factory a/c (engine lid condensor).
I mounted the fans onto the condensor. I have a pic somewhere...I'll look for it...

hmmm....

does anyone have a "parts list"/diagram for installing an a/c on a typ4 that didnt have it before?

a blow by blow:
what parts needed
where we can possibly adapt an existing part.
where to run the lines

gosh a concise "guide" on installing an AC system on a car that didnt have it before would be sooo cool

Hmmm, you may wish to call Performance Aire in Anaheim, CA. They have done a few "E"s and may have some info...

Good Luck...
