050 distributor

Any heads up from anybody who knows where I could find one or two Bosch 050 distributors would be appreciated, I've been
looking for three or four days now with no luck. Thanks.

try E-BAY, search under "porsche 912 distributor" I just found (2) 050's, (1) 022 and (1) 031 . One of the 050 has a buy it now price of $160, a little steep, the 031 has a buy it now price of $175.

There is a new replacement on the market that sells for under $200, is built on a Bosh frame with the retard on #3, and has a custom advance curve that is absolutely incredible. I can idle at 1200 RPMs and the advance curve has not hit (kicks at around 1500. So I can set it at TDC at idle and get 31 degrees at full advance. RSR0012. Contact CSP in California for details. (no, I am not affiliated with them, it's just the best solution going at the moment.

Morrie:
Can you use a Pertronix unit on this new distributor?? If so is it the same as the one I have on my 050?
Thanks,

Call Will Pringle at (626) 445-0108. He is the owner and operator of Classic and Speed Parts in Arcadia, California. There is a waiting list for these as they are a new product, but it will be worth it!

Will's website is stale and in the works of an overhaul. You can go see it at http://www.csp-usa.com for contact info and a feel for what he has. It is all very good quality stuff and Will is a big supporter of the 912 community. Tell him Morrie sent you!

Best,
Morrie in Texas

Bosche kills 050 and 009

Word is Bosch has pulled the plug on the .050 and .009, leaving VW/Porsche folks in a lerch.

Two mechanic friends report that production of tune-up parts for these ditributors is also halted, at least temporarily.

Might be a good idea to snatch up all the tune-up parts you can, as there is some uncertainty as to when and if they'll be back.

It's true on the 050 but the last official word I heard was that the 009 was continuing, unless something has changed in the last week or two.
