Turbo Tie rods?
I've seen the turbo tie rod kits around ebay and some magazines. Some sources say they will fit my 1967 912 targa, others state only 69 and up will fit. Am i misinformed or will some of these kits fit my porsche? thanks

I believe they will, but make sure you get the "Lemforder." I would not buy them from ebay though.

what's the actual gain from fitting these?
would the benefit be only seen on the track? just curious, as I may do this myself |

I have these on my '69, and they fit perfectly. A friend is running them on his '67 911S, so I *assume* they will fit a '67 912 as well.
The benefit is in the design of the rod itself. Rather than have a rubber bushing with a center pin as a pivot on the steering rack side of the rod, they use a metal ball-and-socket design. This eliminates the slop associated with the rubber bushing, and results in a much more positive steering feel. My old tie rods were shot anyway, so my benefit was very dramatic. I got mine from Pelican, they were nice pieces, and fit perfectly. No complaints from me. Later, G |

At one point I remember someone commenting that on a SWB car there was not enough thread somewhere to make them safe enough to be acceptable. Anyone know anything about it? I am thinking of the same change on my 67 but crashing is not fun...
