Hi all. this is my first post on the 912 board.
Two weeks ago I purchased a 66 912. Previous owner had close to $8000 worth of work done two years prior, and since then only put 200 miles on the car. The work done included - New brakes and rotors - New calipers - New clutch - Resealed transmission - Resealed engine - Rebuilt webber carbs - Replace plugs, cap, rotor - Replace fuel lines, filter, etc. The body is in excellent shape with just a few bubbles on the passenger door. Any tips for a new owner?

I hope you learn to love it as I do mine! I have been in to sports cars since since the Watkins Glen races on the old original course. I was a youngster at the time, but I was "bitten by the bug" and still am. My first sports car was a 1954 pre A Porsche with the Hirth roller bearing engine. I went through a number of other makes, but I am back to a 66 912 and a 64 356SC. Speed really wasn't the issue with the early sports cars. There were some fast ones, like the Allards, but very few could afford them. Handling was the big thing, and they were great fun to drive on narrow winding roads. I had an MG TC that would barely make 70mph downhill with a tail wind, but it was a blast to drive and you felt as if you were going like hell! The 912 is in this category. It is, in my definition, a real sports car! It is light, uncomplicated, quick and responsive, and is great fun to slide with the skinny tires. I sincerely hope that you enjoy it as much as I do mine.
