crank case alloy?

Does anyone know what alloy was used to cast the 912 cases. I want to know in order to be able to weld a crack in the case. thanks.

no, it was a small spot that had to be welded, these cases are very good strong alum, its not like welding cheap pot alum or cast iron. I had cracked my third peice when threading in my alum fitting for the full flow oil so I just welded the fitting right in.
