largest wheels that fit?

What size fuchs will fit and tuck into a 912? curious about 16" fuchs..especially. I guess 69 LWB could be different. So will larger ones fit 69 than 65-68?

Thanks,

Harold

Although mines a 912e its still the same narrow body I think.

Anyway I've fitted some 16'' fuchs all round 6'' up front and 7'' back, 205x55s all round.

Slight rubbing on rear arch lips during hard cornering which I solved by rolling the inner lip slightly.

In my opinion,I think they will fit, you'll have to get a low profile tire. But i can't right that in stone, because i never tried. Most people will say, it won't work without rolling the inner lip.I like the 16x6,because you can still rotate the tires.

I've got 16x6 front, and 16x7 rear forged Fuchs off of a 930. I can tell you that the fronts fit fine with 205/50 R16s. The rears, however, are too close to the fender lip, and would rub the fender lip, even after it was rolled. This was with a set of 205/50 R16s as well. Since I wanted to run wider tires anyway, I saw it as an excuse to weld in some SC flares. So, there is now PLENTY of room.

A different offset rim would have helped the problem since there was still plenty of room between the inside of the tire, and the spring plate. Pay careful attention to what you are getting, and you can probably fit som 7s without trouble if you get the correct offset.

Later,

16x6&7's came stock on the SC .. same thing mine came with... The turbos were 7&8's some have 9's on the back. My SC went from the stock to the 17x7 and 17x9's with out rubbing ( after rolling the front fenders)
Looks like theres enough room for 7's out back on the 69. I'm asking in case I manage to sell my sc to buy arts car..lol I'll leave the 17's on the SC then! That's what made me think of it. Hmmmm... I think I'll run buy the local porsche repair guy and see if he wants to make me a cash deal on my car..

I have 15x9 Gottis on the rear of my 912E and they just barely clear the fender lip as well as the trailing arm with 225/45/15's.

I'm surprised that a 16" would work at all, although I guess it would depend on if your car is at stock height. My '68 has been lowered and I have the 6Jx15 Fuchs with 215x60 Michelins all around. Looks and handles great. Even still it's a bit tight in all the wheel wells. Might look into a lower profile tire - anyone have insights on that?

I have 6x15 Fuchs on my '67 (swb). The car has 165R-15s on it now, and it looks like I could run somewhat wider tires on it, but not a lot w/o rolling the fenders. Note also that the cars are not all exactly the same, particularly the Karmann built cars. Something that works on one car may very well rub seriously on another, and often only on one side.

A lwb car like a '69 would be fairly different, as well.
