Question extra number on dash

anyone know what the number signifies on the dash, under the pad, forward of the speaker hole on a 66 912?

the number stamped into the bulkhead in front of the smuggler's box matches the one in the door jamb.
this number on the dash is different in the last three digits.

any ideas?
thanks
kevin

extra number on dash

nope, this number is stamped, just like the one on the bulkhead near the smugglers box, it is the same style and font, stamped right into the dash just forward of the speaker hole, towards the passenger compartment, not the windshield, I'll take a pic.
cheers
Kevin

That looks like a Karmann serial number.
