Starter Switch Problems

Hello

I'm new to this forum, from accross the pond in the UK too.

I recently imported a 912 from Cal, it's beautiful but I'm having problems with the starter switch.

It's the black plastic one - I need to know how to get it off and also I need a wiring diagram for the starter.

There's a small pinhole, I've pushed something into it but it hasn't released anything - am I doing this right?

Any suggestions?

Many thanks
Tanya

Tanya-
Is starter switch the same thing as "ignition switch"?
Just kidding!
But if so, then your starter switch should have a large black plastic circular bezel (bit of trim) around the middle where you stick the key in. The little hole you're speaking of maybe be one of 2 little holes on that thing. Porsche has a tool that inserted into both of those holes and then you would unscrew the black plastic bezel from the dash- the electrical part of the switch comes out from behind the dash.
So basically just get someone with a strong hand and usually that bezel can be unscrewed pretty easily- don't use pliers or anything on it, it could break.

Welcome aboard tanya,

The bezel should just screw off. be carefull screwing it back on. the threads are quite fine and they cross easily. heres a good wiring diagram and also a good site; http://www.hillmanimages.com/912/early_912_wiring.html

good to see some more left hand side of the road drivers.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1105393116.jpg
