912 - Bolt to hold coil thru fan shroud

Simple Question. I am missing the bolt that goes on the right of the coil (and helps hold the coil). The left one is still there.

Do I just put a long bolt thru the fan shroud and tighten it up at the back with a washer and nut? Was a concern that the fan shroud will buckle due to the compression of tightening the nut against it? Is there a sleeve that is suppose to go in the middle of the fan shroud to prevent this?

Thanks

Spooky, I would recommend that you take a look at the 912bbs.org and sign up on that site - free - it is dedicated srictly to the 912 cars and has much more traffic. I know what you are talking about but I actually do not remember. If you were to pass a long bolt through there and really crank down on it, yes you could deform the fan shroud.

Yes, there is a long thin bolt that goes there and I do believe that there should be a sleeve there, but if you cant find the sleeve or dont have one or whatever you could probably just use a nylock nut.

No sleeve that I've ever seen. It's just a long 8mm bolt with a pretty large flat washer on the far side of the fan shroud.DONT crank it down you could actually damage the oil cooler, you just tighten it, I've never seen one come loose.
