912 engine deck release

Hello everyone,
Just bought a 68 912 in pretty good conditions, found it by accident as I was helping a friend do a job.

Any way, the engine deck ketp popping open when driving after seemingly closing tightly, So I backed the screw pin out 1/2 turn
and set it.

It closed ok the lid was a little higher than it should be, I took it for a test drive, didn't open in the drive wich was good,

Now the bad news it wont open at all, the cable is working fine as I can hear it at the lid.

any suggestions.

Thanks
Gino in NE Ohio

Sometimes a new latch / release is the answer. I believe they are available here at Pelican, Stoddards.com and classicandspeedparts.com to name a few.

Oh yea, have friend jiggle the hood latch/hood while you mess with the release,
should work....

got it open by inserting a 1/16 thick by 2" piece of steel with very little pressure.
I now have realigned the pin and it closes great,
will see soon if it stays closed.
Thanks
Gino
