I'm selling my 912 Targa

Title says it. It's happening for several reasons that I dont' care go into. Here are the details.

1967 (first year) 912 Soft Rear Window Targa

- Has one of the last engines The Maestro (Harry Pellow) ever built. Shasta big bore, magniflux, balanced.

- new pans

- new suspension and all bushings

- new Targa top by Dave Brown

- Recaro seats (originals avalable)

- Blaupunkt "period" AM/FM/SW/LW Stereo radio

- Original Wooden Steering wheel

- Fuchs

- Not perfect, but a solid daily driver that gets 29-23 mpg.

E-mail me if you want more information. I'm putting it on eBay on Tuesday.

Dean aka bmwloco

In an effort to clear the air (and answer multiple e-mails asking me "why"

Here's the short story. I'm embroiled in an IRS battle over spending 14 months at the South Pole. The issue: the law says if you're out of the country for more than 340 days, you can make $x and not pay taxes. Well, o.k. Now the IRS says "Antarctica" is not a country and pay up. This issue is old. It's coming to a head.

Then there's cancer. Or a shadow of a scare. It's not me. I do, however, have much experience with it - both my mother and father died with it. Now the woman I love may have to deal with it.

I started doing a hard evalutaion. I looked at what I was spending money on, considered what was important - after a 300 mile ride on my BMW R100RS.

The issue was clear to me when I got home.

It's a damn good car. I've spent tons of money on it. I've done the "right" things. Fixed the pans, replaced the suspension, but most importantly, I got one of the last Maestro engines.

Someone is going to get a good car. Oh, it needs a little TLC, and if you want "perfect", you'll have to repaint it someday. Paint wasn't important to me.
