Post A/C

I just got a 67 912 which I am fixing up to be a daily driver. It had the stock (?) A/C unit installed. The thing is big and takes up room and doesn't really do much so I just took it out. Does anyone know if it was a stock part and if it's worth anything?

AC was a dealer installed option. It might be worth something, but you can purchase better AC units brand new now days, if you want AC, so I doubt its worth anything. But, you never know!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm really in need of what you just threw away!!!!!! I would have taken it. That's too unfortunate that you threw it out! You could have gotten a lot of money out of that. That was a VERY rare option that could have definitely appealed to the collector, and boosted the overall price. I guess I was just too late at this board. Darn!

P.S. If you still know where it is, or can find it for me, I'd be glad to have it!

It was a dealer installed option, so I doubt it would increase the value that much. I could be wrong though.

I'll check the dumpster to see if it's still there. I really wish I had kept it for just another week but what can you do?

I think the dumpster is probably empty but I'll let you know if I find anything.

I'm taking it you didn't have much luck, did you, Blake?

P.S. Since you took out the under dash A/C unit, did you also uninstall the rest of the equiptment, such as the drier, condenser, and compressor and such?

Hello

It is funny how fast people decide something is useless and trash it. Some stuff is in fact useless but it belongs to the history from the car and in 10 years you will see a car at a meeting and the owner tells you how much he investet to have the absolute rare non factory AC in his car becourse the item was allways trashed as useless stuff and the car gathers people and most tell they had a similar unit and it didnīt worked so they trashed it.

The thing is that owners and cars get older and then the use and the meaning from the car changes.
The other thing is that noone has the space to store everything and some parts will never find a new user except you store them for years and wait untill there are enough requests for the small survived amount.

BTW if you look in the Porsche history then you will see that all early ACīs in the US where dealer installed.

Grüsse
