keep it authentic

had my 912 for just over a year now, it had been well looked after but had been left out doors for 18months (not a good idea in the UK) so i've had to do a lot of cleaning to bring it up to the standard i want.

just a couple of little things that bug me its got the wrong head lights and a brand new Porsche badge. would like to change these but seem to be having trouble finding the correct items. for the year and UK spechttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1138096920.jpg

also need some new windscreen wipers as mine got mangled while driving in a really bad storm

I noticed that there is a pair of very nice H-1 headlamps for sale on eBay.

As for a badge, I had to buy a repro as the originals seem impossible to acquire unless you want to shell out some serious loot.

Helen:
Are you looking for the earlier (65-68) H4 headlights/lenses (more rounded, like the Beetle?) If so, check thesamba.com , searching for hella or bosch lenses. There was a fellow in Switzerland, I think, who had a few assymetrical lenses (some with the proper-side "dip" for left-side countries.
Bill.

I found a source for the original Hella VW style headlight lenses, Wolfsburg West http://www.wolfsburgwest.com/cart/DetailsList.cfm?ID=111941115HGR for $53 US each.

They will fit the H4 style rims and housings so you get the best of both worlds.

Since you are in UK , these LHD headlights are not what you are looking for , or am I wrong ??

There MUST be several Porsche clubs & specialist shops there aswell.

Go to your local WHSMITH , and buy a magazine named 911&Porsche world. There are many UK parts shop advertising. One of those should be able to get you the correct lights & badge , etc etc.

yup i need RHD lights as its a RHD 912.
been supscribing to 911 & Porsche world, GT Purely porsche and (more reasontly)Total 911 for many years..
and yes your right there are many specialist suppliers...but they want silly money for these items.

as the car has perfectly good H4 lights and a nice new porsche badge on the desire to change these items to the correct ones is purely to silence the anerac in me,

eki912 02-12-2006 04:24 AM

Helen , do you REALLY have all those 4 Porsches ??

Are you working for PORSCHE UK ...... :) , or is your husband/boyfriend/partner .....

The correct badge , should be relatively easy to find ( or is it one of these NLA things... ) , the correct RHD lights , they might be a bit more of a challenge. Try all your UK Porsche dismantlers ? UK clubs and their bulletin boards and so on.

GT Purely Porsche are doing a "whats in your garage" artical on them...should be in Aprils issue (don't know if UK publication is available in the states?

no they are all mine..

hubby owns the Cayenne as it tows my car trailer nicely :)
