oil pump gear question

the oil pump in my 912, the driveshaft on the gear is worn, as well as the cam's oil pump drive slot. (i think most 912s have this problem due to the loose fit between the driveshaft and the cam end)

i am putting in a new cam later. instead of buying a new oil gear with shaft @ $150+, is there any way i can fix the worn?

weld it??

or just replace the shaft only?? (i see NLA limited in CA sells just the driveshaft @ $30, but i do not know how to replace that or if that can be done on my oil gear cuz i cannot see any joint bewteen the gear and the shaft) how do that install that? use cold shrink and heat expand method??

I just welded up one tonight. If the cam slot is bad it will wear the new pump gear tab. A welded up tab needs to be done with hard welding rod and reground carefully to last.
