Purchase the Beru wires, they are surprisingly inexpensive.
Many run the NGK B6HS or B7HS depending on how hot you need or want to run. The long tip BP6HS or any long tip plug can extend into the head enough to come into contact with the top of the piston, not good.

For wires:
Fyrebraid ignition wires are popular for 912's. The original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for the connectors (which snap on to the plugs) were made by Beru. Most people get Fyrebraid with Beru connectors from Performance Products (www.************************), but you probably should be able to get them from Stoddards, Tweeks, etc., as well. I got my wires from Zim's Autotechnik in Dallas (Bedford, TX), and I know Paragon Products (http://www.*****************.com/aboutus.asp) in Corpus Christi probably carries good wires. Pelican has several models to choose from (including Beru), but I don't think they're Fyrebraid. (Fyrebraid are a red-orange color and withstand up to 1400 degrees F.) For plugs: Tech manuals call for Bosch W6BC or W200 T35 which are in the middle of the heat range (see http://home.earthlink.net/~goodspeeds/SPRKPLUG.HTM) A good page with some heat indeces for W6BC plugs is at http://www.gbsalpine.com/English/Catalog/ignition13vc.html (don't order anything from this page, it's not a porsche page) Bosch Platinum-2 and Platinum-4 are new high tech plugs that offer the optimum burning of the air/fuel mixture, BUT THEY AREN'T MADE FOR 912's or 356's. For new high tech plugs for the 912, I have learned about an Iridium plug made by Denso (part number 5379) that Perfromance Product sells for 356's, and therefore should work in a 912. The Denso has a 0.4 mm Iridium electrode that requires less voltage for a spark, thus, what you are already pushing for voltage can only result in a stronger spark-->better combustion-->better efficiency-->more power. The other advantage is faster cold starts. I am going to order the Denso Iridium's and see what they do. |

I installed the Denso Iridium plugs in my 68 912 (Denso part no. IWF22) and obtained very fast cold starts and probably a 2-5 HP increase.
