What is a 902/16 transmission

Guys,

The transmission that I removed from my 1969 912 is marked as a 902/16. I can not find mention of a 902/16 transmission in any books. What is a 902/16 transmission? Is it a five speed? p.s., I towed the car home to rebuild it and so have never shifted/driven the car.

Duke,
Thanks for the help. I am trying to duplicate my first Porsche, purchased in June of 69. Here's my next question: What is the part number and/or buying source for the small black rubber plugs in the floor pan? The holes in the floor pan that they fill are about 3/8" diameter and most of them (about 6 or so) run down the middle of the floor pan, although there are couple outboard by the rocker panels. My parts book doesn't show them that I can see.
Thanks again.

You might try Stoddard for those floor plugs, otherwise maybe your local auto store or hardware store.

It makes a good early 911 race box too with the 6/29. Very sought after in some circles but don't part with as cgarr said it is dead on right for you 96 912.

Thought I'd post this additional info before this thread fades into the past (hi-jacked from another site)

Thanks to all for the valuable information. Now it's back to the garage and back to work and bringing this 69 912 back to life.

Well worth the effort IMO. There were very few 69 912s made to start with and very fewer are left. i have one of the sunroof coups but I mucked it up into a track car. Had i known hw few there were I would have gotten another car for the track and not messed with the 912. It will go back to a street car and be the sunny day daily driver.
