912E Alternator R&R
Guys,
Anyone removed and replaced their 912E alternator? Seem to be kickn me in the rear end. Not as easy as my 914. Any help guys? Brian 9magazine.com |
I replaced mine , but me engine was out. It wasnt that hard....
If I recall correctly , it is fitted with through bolt at the lower end. And then the other holding thing , that slides , and works as the belt adjusting thing too. |
pain in the ass, I ended up removing mine 3-4 times with the engine in situ. Problem turned out to be on the relay board, bad earth, so all the pain wasn't called for.
I had to remove my heat exchanger for access, also the rubber cooling hose can be awkward to disconnect, small hands would help which I don't pocess. I had to cut almost all the bolts that held the heat exchanger on, also it had thermal reactors fitted at the time which also make access to some of the fixings difficult. Good luck and make sure you don't have to remove it again. |
Oh yes , I do recall..... that rubber cooling hose... Oh man ! Who designed that !!!
And NIGE is right , taking out all exhaust thingys will give you more room. But it still wont be easy in car. |
