Fan Belt Replacement

I recently purchased a 67' 912 targa. The fan belt broke and i need to replace it. What is the correct tool to use, i think it is missing in my tool kit. Thanks for your assistance.

Brian

looks like no one has replied..
it';s easy easy easy

have a look on ebay there are some generator spanners going for about $30 have a word with these guys ( pelican ) as they seam to be making them again.. in black oringal ones are chrome..

you can use a big shifter..

put a flat bladed screw driver in the top pully slot ( you will see this as a notch ) this shoudl then hold the top pully in place..

Then un do the huge nut and you can take the half of the pully off and then get to the belt..

15mins job..

BUT how you set it is the key..

you want about 3/4" play in the long part fo the belt

and to do this it's done by adding or removing shimms

A little to add. Keep all the shims on the gen shaft. Any shims that you remove from in between the pully halves you need to put on the outer pully before you put the 36mm nut back on.
