912 Engine Swap

Hi...

Just got a 66 912 with no motor or transaxle....Is it possible to use a 73 914 1.7 and transaxle in the 912? If so....how much work...what mods will be required....

Thanks....

For the help

Steve

Yeah you can do it but it takes a little work, First the ring gear needs to be flipped and the nose cone and shift rod have to replaced you want to use parts from a 901 Core, You might be better off selling your 914 trans and just buying a used 901, I have seen a few around for 1000 or better

You will also need the motor sheet metal from a 76 912E. Someone is making it. So try the Renegades on the 912BBS. They love doing this conversion. It also makes the ones with the original 912 motors worth more. Some have also converted with 911 motors. The transaxels are the same.
