Chassis questions

I have a 1966 912 with intentional looking 1" diameter holes on the outside Chassis frame rails. They are about 5" in front of the rear torsion bars. There are also similar holes up front. Are these for oils lines or such? Are they stock holes?
Did the early 912's use the same torsion bar diameter as the 911's?
This is my first Porsche project and my first post.
Thanks to the forum for any help.

I am not completly sure, but I believe that the car itself is exactly the same as a 911 of comparable year. I have a 66 and I can look tomorrow for those holes, can you give me a better description of exactly where they are, I am not sure of what you mean by frame rails. Good luck.

Sorry, there was no such thing as chassis frame rails in early Porsches. They were a unibody construction. They did have longitudinals. Which were basically hollow and duct the heat from the motor into the passenger compartment as the heater.

Also the oil lines, if the car had a front oil cooler, passed on the outside and would help disperse the heat and not though the body.
