'68 912 front end...
...alignment question.
I had my front end aligned and the technician claimed he could not get it "right on". He's not a Porsche man but is very knowledgeable about front end alignments. In looking thru one of the Porsche parts catalogues I noticed a strut assembly and the "tech tip" says if your car cannot be brought back into alignment it could be a bent strut assembly. My question is...has anyone experienced this and if so can the strut assembly be straightend? Thanks in advance, joe '68 912 '64 356C |

Being unable to properly align a vehicle's front end is almost certainly the result of bent or worn suspension parts, given that the vehicle's structure is "straight", that is free of collision damage or improperly repaired collision damage. That said, bent suspension parts should, as a rule, never be straightened, only replaced---safety issue with regards to metal fatique and "work hardening"--part becoming brittle and/or weak.
