40 idf again
so i have a pair of webers on my car and they just arnt working right. i saw on this forum that a few people have figured out a optional jet set up that works well.
my engine is set up fairly standard with normal valve size and 1600cc displacement, running a header exhaust. it seems easy enough to change them. |

If you are starting from scratch, you can open each idle mixture screw 1 1/2 turns, then hookup up a dwell/tachometer (for RPM) and slowly adjust each, stopping then RPM is a maximum. Each time you slowly turn an idle mixture screw when running the RMP increases to a maximum, and then falls on either side (tightening/loosening). Do this for all four cylinders and it will get you going until you have access to an infra-red exhaust gas analyzer (measures lean and rich levels of exhaust).
Adjusting any carb (solex or weber) gets tricky, so seek professional help. One of the best ways to adjust carbs is when the car is on a dynamometer ("dyno") such that horse power can be optimized at the mid-range of RPMs. |
