Lubro Moly vs. Swepco oil additives
Does anyone have any experience with oil additives from Lubro Moly and Swepco for reducing wear and heat? LM makes "MS02 Engine Treatment" and "Motor Protect", while Swepco makes a "502 Oil Improver." These all seem to serve the same purpose -- to reduce friction, wear, and heat. Swepco claims that noisy push rod sounds decrease when using thier 502. I currently use Mobil 1, and would be interested in trying LM's synthetic oil called Voll-Synthese. I didn't notice a Swepco synthetic oil(?).

Swepco doesn't produce synthetics. They are a natural oil manufacturer. Their 502 oil improver is an excellent product. I sold it for several years and had many customers who claimed that it made their Porsches run more quietly, run cooler (thereby making more power) and some of the more OCD fellows who tracked every tank and mile claimed that it gave them 1-2mpg in increased gas mileage.

Thanks for the feedback. Will check out the Swepco 502. Can always try LM after another oil change.

Changed the oil yesterday, and an auto parts store I was at happen to have Lubro Moly MSO2 Engine Treatment -- so I tried that. Engine sound at run-time did not change, and can't confirm reduction of friction. However, the idle went up 200-300 RPM. Fundamentally, if you reduce friction, the idle would go up, since the fuel mixture won't change. Maybe this confirms the reduced friction. For heat reduction, most additives claim 12-17% reduction. Interestingly, a product called Slick 50 (which seems to be in most auto part stores) claims a 17% reduction in friction and heat. If that level is attainable, that's almost a fifth of total friction.
