Superb 912 wanted
Hello, I'm looking for one outstanding 912 (coupe or targa) to replace the three nice drivers that I have now. I'll only consider the following:
- A straight, unmolested car. - Correct configuration for the year, in all respects, that would conform exactly to a COA for that car. - No rust or rust repairs. - No crash damage or associated repairs. - All systems must be in good working order. I'm only mildly interested in a restored car, preferring something that would meet survivor-class standards. Forgive me for being fussy, but I want what I want and I expect to pay top dollar for such a car. Thanks for your help in finding one, and thanks in advance for your PMs. |

Splendid presentation....seems almost to cheap for the condition. Perhaps the luxury economy has begun to set in........

It is not a completely correct car. There are several things that have been changed. Most can be changed back without much problems.
However, the oil pressure gauge is not correct and the hole will have to be filled. The 912 had only two instrument configurations for 66 a three gauge and five gauge. The three gauge configuration had a combo gas and oil temp, a tach and a speedo. The five gauge set up had a ambulant temp, the combo gas and oil temp, the tach, speedo, and a clock. The knobs for the fog lights does not look correct. It was hard to tell from the picture. Most of the stickers in the engine bay need to be changed or removed. also the engine lid is not even close to being right with the gold Porsche lettering and missing the 912 script. The 66 did not have perlon carpet. It was German square weave in the trunk and the rails inside. The headliner originally was a very light gray. But since it is NLA. They use the white headliner. The horns are the new Hella type. The originals are all black and the same ones used on the VW. So it is probably priced right at 20K. Last edited by Jaems; 12-15-2008 at 12:13 PM.. |

Good eye, Jaems; I only noticed a few of those things. There are many beautiful 912s out there, and this is one of them. It's just not what I'm looking for. I hope it's still acceptable these days to seek a bone-stock car, preferably unrestored. I continue the search.

I'm sorry but that E-bay car doesn't look "right" it's pretty but it doesn't appear to have been really "restored" definetly repainted though! To me it appears the car was taken apart somewhat, repainted and put back together... you can see where fuel leakage at the sender has eaten away the paint on the fuel tank, cheap paint...
the strikers and trunk latches were just cleaned up, not replated, the calipers have been painted silver not, the original type "brite finish" they came with... I seriously doubt the suspension has been removed and inspected, looks more like it was all painted at the same time as the bottom of the car was, the bolt heads are the same color as everything is. is a good clue. nice car but not one is look at if i want an original type car also wrong carbs manifolds and air filters....lol Last edited by ks2_motorsports; 12-19-2008 at 06:28 AM.. |
