cost of rebuilding 912 engine?

Hi- I have a 1967 912 with an original engine with 260,000 miles on it. The engine has a slight knock and I was curious approximately how much it would be to rebuild it completely? and most likely do a big bore kit?

10K is not uncommon, that said it can be done for much less if your mechanically inclined.......

If you can stay with a standard case and crank that should save you a lot, even so the standard bearings are very costly, if you upgrade to the 86mm bore that might be the cheapest way to go if your cylinders are cracked which many are. My 69 912 was about 4k just in parts, head and crank work and I did all the other work.
