Smile 912 engine pic

Ok...i'll try this, does there seem to be a lot of extra exposed wiring here in this pic? anyone got any answers?? whats with the little white cap next to the coil? electronic ignition? answers anybody?? thanks!

It's very difficult to identify wiring modifications/additions from a photo. That little "white cap" next to the coil could be an added junction or even some sort of relay. Any numbers on it - maybe on the back side? Where do the wires come from/ go to? Is your voltage regulator the correct one?
Also, it looks like the main loom coming to the ignition/senders has been opened-up at some point (melted wires in the past?)
Again, larger//or close-up photos are needed.
