Pictures of 912E exhaust needed
Hi all,
I've got a 66 912 that I bought without running gear. I've hung a Type IV engine and a five speed in the engine bay but I need to do something for the exhaust system. I was thinking I could shorten up a set of 914 heat exchangers and bolt on a 914 muffler. Or, I could weld up something that looked like a 912E system. But I don't know how it is configured. Anybody have pictures or advise? I'm sure this conversion has been done a few times. THANKS!!! John |

Type IV exhaust for early 912 modified cars
Look on the 912BBS for threads concerning "Gumby" and the Tangerine racing exhaust system test-fitted on it. Also visit the Tangerine racing site for specific systems tailored for your project. The system was a 'bolton' for your application, I believe. R/Dave L.

Thanks Dave. I'm aware of Chris's systems as I have one on my 914. Bought it back when he was still doing business as CFR. It's a great piece of work and makes awesome power but I really don't want to spend that much for this car and I do want to maintain the ability to have some heat.
Anyone else? John |

Type IV exhaust for early 912 modified cars
Gee...I don't know of any off-the-shelf types, other than Raby at RAT who offers some services in this area and is close-in-biz with the Tangerine people, I think. Might be worth a look at the web shop he keeps to see if there's a reasonably priced exhaust? Also recommend posting on the 912bbs outlaw section if you have not already. There are a number of Type-IV powered conversions and perhaps a couple of Subaru converted 912 folks there. Let us know what you fab-up in the end! R/Dave L.
