Question 912 dizzy ?

I just installed a new flame thrower dist. in my 68 912,directions warn solid core wires MUST NOT BE USED! I don't know if my wires are solid core ,I have bosch 7mm opti-layer copper core ultra premiums , are these the corect wires ? any help here would be greatly appreciated !

No, You should use the wires from the manufacturer of the distributor. Most wires that you buy are going to be solid core.

Most folks use the Bosch distributors. Like the 022, 031, 061, or the new re-manufactured RS00012 that is designed for the 912 engines and sold by Will at Classic and Speed Parts. These have the correct curve for the 912 engine. The 061 is a 031 that has a vacuum retarded system that can be removed by someone that knows how to repair distributors.

The Bosch 050 and the 007 have been used by some as replacements. However, these distributors are really designed for the VW. The curves for not right for the 912 street engine. The 007 are used by some for their racing engines. It has a short curve for upper RPMs only.
