912E Wiring

I need to replace the engine bay wiring in my fire damaged 912E and was wondering if a 914 harness I see on Ebay would be the same.

My dash wiring is fine. I just need to replace the burned stuff in the rear.

Is there a source for the rear harness? My searches haven't turned up much.

The engine wiring harness is NLA (No Longer Available.) One new old stock harness from Florida popped up on ebay around 1999.

The 914 1.8 L engine had a similar fuel injection system. That would be your best bet for a starting point for modifications. Because the 914 were backwards, or frontwards depending upon your point of view, the placement of parts is likely different from the 912e. All the connectors will be there however. Then there is the wiring from the main wiring harness which probably got melted. Does anyone know if the rest of the harness is plain vanilla 911 for 1975-76?

Of course this may not matter if you do buy Duncan Dawkins' 912e motor for sale on the 912bbs. The harness would come with that motor.

Thanks for the info, Tom I forgot to mention the car has twin carbs - no fuel injection.

Wiring

Anyone know if an engine harness from a 74-77 911 would work?

I have a used 912E engine wiring harness available. It has been spliced in a couple of spots, but for the most part it seems to be complete and very usable. I am not really familiar with these cars, and I believe that this is the main harness? and the injection harness is a separate one? Maybe someone more knowledgeable can chime in on this?
