912e Turbo Tie-Rod mod?

I'm considering having the turbo-tie-rod mod installed in my 912e.

I'm assuming this will work in my 1976 912e?

Is there anything special I need to tell the alignment shop, or do they set the alignment to factory specs with this mod?

Thanks for any feedback you are willing to give!

Is there a problem? Are you doing anything else along with this mod? If not, I'd wait until you do other mods along with it, that way you only need to do it once.

Well, it's got 170k on it and AFAIK nothing in the front-end has ever been replaced. Nothing feels wrong. The car drives straight and is nimble, but I definitely want to upgrade the "road feel", and my understanding was that the turbo-tie-rod mod was the way to go? The kit is relatively inexpensive... I can put it in myself, and since I'm getting an alignment later next week anyway, it seems to make sense to do it before the alignment.

I'm probably missing something obvious though, aren't I? Like some other mod that has to be made along with this one? Something like that? Or is this a good starting place?

Thanks!

As long as you're getting it aligned anyway, go for it. But if nothing has ever been done to the car, I would at least think about bushings along with it to help maintain the alignment.

I am thinking to do the same on my 912E. One mechanic told me that consider the "kickback" you can get from the Turbo Tie Rods in the steering and to go with the originals.

912E and turbo tie-rods

I installed the turbo tie-rods and bump steer kit on my 912E ( along with new front torsion bars ) and it is one of the best things I have done to that car.
Steering is tight and handeling is greatly improved , I also had it four wheel balanced and aligned immediately after the upgrades. Well worth it in my opinion - Dennis
