thanks to the 912 forum...
awhile back i had posted this topic:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15724&highlight=key+question well, all is resolved now. i have a one key system. i know it's not much to get excited about but what a pain it was not being able to open the door for the wife. the local locksmith re-keyed my tumblers for $17.50 each. took the opportunity to clean, degrease and re-lube the mechanisms. everything works smooth and great. thanks to scott mclean for selling me the hard to find ilco dm4 keyblanks. i still have the panels off and plan to replace with rs style panels. anyone looking for the nla '68 style panels in great shape? thanks, bob '68 911L |

![]() Hi Bob - Good to hear everything worked out fine and relatively inexpensive! As luck would have it the Taylor keys (post 1970 Porsche ignition/doors) that didn't work for you now work for me on the 912E - so I'm glad they came back! About your rearview mirror, I have the 68 912 sunroof coupe I got this summer that had nice parts and enough rust to cause tetanus at 20 feet in places - it has one but I can't recall the condition (will look tomorrow). The car is a CA/AZ car so in some areas it looks fine but the battery to the suspension area, etc - ouch. Did you (& everyone) catch the discussion on Kurt's 912 in "Spy Game" on the 911 board? I get my two seconds of fame by saying I sold Kurt the heads for the car this summer so it would be ready in time for the cameras ![]() If anyone needs the old style 911/912 key I do have a couple left ... Scott - scotmclean@yahoo.com 67 912 project all over the garage 68 912 sunroof - project or parts? 69 912 #3078 in owner's gallery 76 912E #86 - fuel injection can be fun |
