Fuel Pump Question
EDIT: I meant fuel filter, not fuel pump.
After 2 months of owning the '66 912, I guess I can still be called a newbie so here are the newbie questions: Where is the fuel filter? Does my '66 even have a fuel filter? Were fuel filters added by owners by simply cutting into the fuel cord, attaching each end to the fuel filter and then clamping then in? I see other pictures of 912's and clearly see the fuel pump but I do not think I have one. Any help is greatly appreciated. Last edited by lamaker; 02-26-2010 at 06:13 PM.. |

The filter should be on the rubber hose coming from the left / driver's side of the car. At least on my car, the filter is clear with the paper filter inside. Held to each end of the hose with pressure / screw clamps.

The 912 did not come with a fuel filter. Most put one in line before it enters the fuel pump.

what type of fuel filter in the picture is that? Anyone? (the metal one versus plastic).
I think I would prefer to add that one in. |

The Plastic one, when it is dirty, you just replace it. they cost about a dollar or less depending where you purchase. They other type you just clean it and reuse. They run about $4 dollars. Most parts house will care both. The VW bug parts/shops should care both.
