Anyway to re-thread spark plug hole with pulling the engine?

My back left spark plug hole will need to be re-threaded with a coil. It is in the shop now.

Is there anyway to re-thread it without pulling the engine out? Just trying to keep costs down.

Thank you in advance.

This happened to me and installed a helicoil insert....I removed the cylinder head with the engine still in place, though it is alot easier job if the whole engine is dropped as I had to remove the exhaust, heat exchanger, leftside tinware etc etc...

You'll really need to drop the motor to do this, but it's a pretty quick operation. I think member Green 912 posted a great step-by-step method to quickly pull the motor without the help of a second person. Even if it were feasible, trying to do that type of work with the motor in would take a lot longer than with the engine removed.
