i've used the adjustable ones in a VW baja before.... we were always breaking the stock when the wheel would kick up a log or something.. they work great....

Hello, So you don't have to pull the engine right? I take it the old ones just unscrew after you remove the lifters, push rods and heater boxes? Chas

they dont unscrew.. hence the need for an adjustable one... but yes.. you dont have to pull the motor.. just the lifters, push rods. Not sure yet if i have to pull the heater boxes.... then cut the old one off.. and screw the new one in.

I've heard that the collapsible pushrod tubes tend to be inferior to the original type ones, and that they tend to leak some oil.

The ones i had on my VW were actually 2 tubes that slid inside one another with and o-ring to seal between them and spring loaded to seal on the head/block. The ones i'm lookin at at performace products are threaded instead of spring loaded. I never had any leak problems with the ones in my VW

If you're going to get them I'd go with Stoddard over Performance Products, Stoddard is a much better company, and their parts tend to be much better than any other mail order Porsche parts places. I know they have both original and collapsible tubes for sale.
