Question Tires on 4.5x15 wheels

My tires are shot so I need to replace them. Currently they are the 165/75 and I want to go to a 185/70 or 185/65. Will they fit, or is the tire too wide for the wheel? Also, are there any alternative ideas? Thanks

Upgrade to chrome 5 1/2" wheels and put either 195/65-15 or 205/60-15 tires on them. About $145 for the rims and $45-75 for the tires. I know where there is a complete set with tires (195/65-15) for about $650. Wheels/tires were bought before the guy bought the car. Realizes now that the car has to much rust and he's parting it out.

This is probably the dumbest question ever on this board but how do you tell if a wheel is 4.5" ir 5.5"? Thanks

I have two 4.5 inchers and two 5.5 inchers. Both were repainted silver about two years ago and still look fine for wheels you drive on the road. They need cleaned. I have 205/50VR15 Pirelli P700Z on them. They are not a good fit on the 4.5 inchers! But, with the 5.5 inchers, they fit fine. I only used the wheels for cars shows. I had the extra tires so that's what I threw on the rims. For that limited purpose, they worked fine.

I also have four chrome hubcaps in good-to-great shape. No rust on them, silver Porsche crests intact, only minor blemishes.

I have too many sets of wheels and tires and am moving soon. I would like to sell them if anyone is interested. I'll take the tires off if you want the wheels alone. The tires are in great shape, I'd say at least 75% tread depth remaining. Email with any offers.

If you have 5.5" rims (look under the hub cap area on the wheel and it will tell you along with the month and year they were made) I'd go with 195/65-15 tires. The rolling radius and look will be right.
