How to remove chrome on door
 

Does anyone know how to remove the chrome on the driver and passenger door on my '66 912? I am now getting into the seams for sanding the paint down and I do not want to stratch the chrome as it is in perfect condition.

It is the chrome strip under the drivers side window in the photo below.

It should slide off, towards the rear of the car. You can put some tape on the front edge and very gently give some light taps.

It doesn't slide. It has clips that pop up. There is also a rubber strip that goes between the chrome strip and the wind-wing. The quarter panel window also has to be removed first to pop that one out.

I stand corrected on the sliding part - that solution goes to another car I have.
