well here is your problem...

does someone have a photo of a early 3 gauge car showing the wiring of the gauges, in particular the combination gas/oil temp gauge?

The owners drivers manual has the wiring diagram, in color. Simple to follow - if the wiring is original to the car. You might also try going to the 912 BBS.

25, 26 & 27 are the gauges; 25 the combo gauge.
